Conditional Formatting
Conditional formatting applies formatting, bars, or icons to a range automatically based on the values in it — useful for spotting OI buildup, price moves, or threshold breaches at a glance without manually coloring cells. Open it from the Format menu, or right-click a selected range and choose Conditional formatting.
Setting Up a Rule — 4 Steps
Open the Panel
Click + Add another rule in the Conditional format rules panel. A new sheet has no rules applied until you add one.
Set Apply to Range
Type a range like A1:A10, or use the grid icon to pick it visually.
Choose a Rule Type
Pick Data Formatting, OI Bar, or Icon Sets from the Format rules type dropdown.
Configure & Done
Fill in the type-specific options and click Done. Click + Add another rule again to stack more.
Rule Types
The Format rules type dropdown controls what the rule actually does to matching cells.
Data Formatting
Style matching cells with bold, color, fill, and more. Conditions cover blank cells, numbers, text, dates, or a custom formula — the most flexible of the three types.
OI Bar
Draws an in-cell bar sized relative to the cell's value — the standard way to visualize open interest distribution across a strike ladder.
Icon Sets
Places a small icon next to a cell's value when a condition is met — a compact alternative to color fills for flagging direction, priority, or status.
