Icon Sets
Places a small icon next to the cell's value when a condition is met — a compact alternative to color fills for flagging direction, priority, or status.
Setting Up the Rule — 5 Steps
Apply to Range
Set the range, e.g. A1:A10.
Select the Type
Set Format rules type to Icon Sets.
Pick a Condition
Choose a condition under Format rules and fill in its value.
Choose the Icon
Set Icon selection, Position, and Icon color (below).
Click Done
The icon appears immediately on matching cells.

Icon Sets uses the same five condition categories as Data Formatting.

Number
Equal to · Not equal to · Greater than · Greater than or equal to · Less than · Less than or equal to · Between · Not between
Text
Text contains · Text does not contain · Text starts with · Text ends with · Text is exactly
Date

Formula

Icon Options
Icon selection
Arrow Up · Arrow Down · Star · Circle · Check
Position
Where the icon sits relative to the cell's value (dropdown, e.g. Left).
Icon color
Color of the icon.
